The skin is the main interface between the body and the external environment. It is the largest organ in the human body. The skin consists of three layers: the epidermis (on the surface), the dermis and the hypodermis (deeper down). The epidermis contains the pores through which sweat is released. When you move, wash or put on clothes, dead skin cells from the epidermis are removed.
